For more than 65 years, the professionally trained staff at Walls Insurance has been providing businesses and individuals in New York and Pennsylvania with premiere insurance coverage at competitive rates. Our goal continues to be providing excellent coverage to those that we service.

Unlike many insurance agencies that offer policies from a single provider, we represent several underwriters. Our ability to provide competing quotes from various providers gives our customers far greater control and buying power.

Meet Our Staff 

Sherwood (Woody) Walls has worked in the insurance industry for the past 36 years. He joined Walls, Heiss, Walls Insurance Agency in 1972, and he bought out his father’s partnership in 1976.

He is a graduate of Hamilton College and received his MBA from the Wharton School University of Pennsylvania. He was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ecuador from 1964 to 1966, and served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971 as a district senior advisor employed by the US Agency for International Development.

He is a member of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of NY and a director of the local association; also a member of the Professional Insurance Agents of NY; a member and former director of Broome County YMCA and the Binghamton Rotary Club; a member and current director of the Binghamton Club.

Woody is married to the former Anne Normile, and they have 2 sons, 1 daughter, and 1 grandson. His leisure activities include snow skiing, hiking/camping and tennis.

Mary has worked in the insurance industry for 39 years, starting in June of 1969 as a Group Claim Processor for the Travelers Insurance Co. Following the consolidation of the office in 1972, she went to work for The Hartford Insurance Co for 16 years, first as a Clerical Processor and then as Clerical Supervisor. Following the consolidation of that office, Mary made a career change to agency work and in 1986 went to work for Couper, Ackerman and Sampson as a Customer Service Representative. However in Sept. of 1987, she applied for a job with Sherwood M. Walls, whom she had known from her Travelers days. She began working at Sherwood M. Walls, Inc. on 09/28/87 as a Personal Lines Customer Service Representative. Mary holds the CISR and FIPC designations. She is a member of Southern Tier Insurance Professionals and in the past worked on the Membership Committee for that organization. She is married to Tony and has two children, Scott & Gina, and three grandchildren, Kendra, Jacob and Alexis. Besides playing with her grandchildren, her outside activities include helping her husband with his Deli, teaching a religious education course at her church, singing in the church choir and she is a member of the Parish Council.

Jean has worked in the insurance industry for 28 years. She holds the designations of FIPC and CISR. She has worked in Personal lines for 20 years; 10 years at Brown & Fitzsimmons, 10 years with Boyd Endicott and as Office Manager and Commercial lines for 8 years with Sherwood M Walls, Inc. She is on the New York Federation of Insurance Professionals board as Historian (first year) and has held the position of Ways & Means Chairman for 3 years. She is also a member of the local association within Federation – Southern Tier Insurance Professionals having held positions as President, Treasurer, Secretary and News Letter Editor. Jean is also the Director on the local IIAAST. She is a widow with 2 boys, Rob and Ron, and 7 grandchildren ranging in age from 1 ½ years to 15 years. Her hobbies are crocheting and her pets, Amber, Missy and Max.

Linda has worked in the insurance industry for 35 years, starting in October of 1973 as a file clerk in Personal Lines at Liberty Mutual Insurance. In 1985, she became a CSR. Linda worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance, Smith Wilson Bros, a Division of Haylor, Freyer & Coon, handling Personal Lines during that time. She has worked for Reidman Insurance as a CSR. She worked for AIG as an Underwriter for Personal Lines for 2 years. She has worked for Brown & Brown Insurance and Southern Tier Agency Associates as a Personal Lines CSR. She has worked for Sherwood M Walls, Inc since October 2007 as a Personal Lines Customer Service Representative. She is currently licensed as an insurance agent for the State of New York. She has taken a few customer service courses at Broome Community College such as telephone technique and written expression. She recently was married to Darryl Crouch. Her hobbies are music, her cat, Pearl and antiques.

Steven W. Cobb came to the Walls Insurance Agency from the Liberty Mutual Group where he was recognized as a top agent in Auto, Home and Life Insurance. In 2007 he earned the distinguished Lamplighter Award which signified excellence in protecting his clients through Life Insurance. Before entering the insurance industry, Steve earned his degree in Communications and entered the family imprinted apparel business where he was the VP of Sales and Marketing and within a few short years Steve was able to increase revenue and profitability by putting the emphasis back on excellent client relationships. Steve then joined an international franchising company where he traveled around the country training new business owners on how to build and run a successful business.

Steve is a member of Toastmaster's International and the Southern Tier Young Professionals organization. He lives in Johnson City with his wife, Jennifer and two children and enjoys spending his free time with his family. Steve's mission is to develop life-long client relationships and educate individuals, families and business owners on how to best protect themselves through insurance.
